You can help

I want to help build Zion and this site is my attempt at inviting others to join and help. On this site we can explore what Zion is and how we can act cooperatively to solve real pressing problems in the world. For some background we can explore a little bit of what Zion is or we can jump in to the first seed of a thought I have had.

I have more notes and thoughts, but what I really want to do here is figure out how to handle the infrastructure needed to build Zion.

What problems may need solving?

• Find ways to combine resources to help everyone have enough food and shelter.
• Create tools for handling travel and lodging logistics for people to help host travelers for conferences and other pilgrimage gatherings.
• Prepare identity and trust infrastructure to help people in different areas more quickly know who to trust.
• Prepare financial infrastructure for managing money independent of the US Dollar and banks so we can wean off of money that is constantly being devalued and institutions that take 3% every time it moves.
• Probably more things I'm failing to think of at the moment...

I have written up some other thoughts on what we can try with what I am calling "economic cooperation societies" to combine resources in ways that will help us unite together and take care of our local community needs while creating less taxable events so we bleed less money. The trick is sharing resources with visibility and auditability to protect against embezzlement and other forms of abuse.

Software Projects

There is a buildzion Github organization for repositories related to building Zion. As additional projects are declared they can be placed here and anyone who wants to help work on them can be added as a contributor.

The first project that has progressed enough to be used is Cumorah. You can view the Cumorah repository or the buildzion instance of Cumorah. You can also host your own Cumorah on any virtual private server.

Help!

I'm not smart enough or talented enough to do all of this myself and I can't be a community of only one person, but that doesn't change the fact that these are things that probably need to be done. I'd like to find people who are interested in solving for some of these problems so we can get to work making sure that things are ready when people need to use them.
